OUR STORY
The inception of Stems Beauty lies in a profoundly personal experience—a betrayal that sparked a journey of healing and transformation for our Founder. In 2020, she was diligently working on a new beauty concept when her products were acquired by a large corporation. The company invited her to join their incubator program, promising resources, guidance, and support.
However, once the product formulations were completed, communication abruptly ceased. To her dismay, she discovered that the beauty giant’s employees, led by the Head of the Incubator Program, had launched a product line eerily similar to her own, even borrowing some of her product names. They exploited her ideas and hard work without recognition or compensation. As a single mother, this was a devastating financial and emotional blow.
In this moment of despair, she turned to her grandmother, Meg, for support.
Meg, a beautician and entrepreneur, owned salons and barbershops in California and Indiana. She was a pioneer in her own right and one of the first people our Founder confided in about her dream of launching a beauty brand. Meg always believed in her. As her tear-streaked granddaughter wept in her arms, feeling helpless and defeated, Meg wiped her cheeks and said words that would echo for generations:
“Well, God don’t like ugly.”
Those words lingered and grew louder, and they got our Founder thinking—ugliness has nothing to do with looks. True ugliness comes from cruelty, dishonesty, and superficiality. It was in that moment of clarity that the idea for
Stems Beauty was born—a brand that would emphasize the beauty that stems from within, where kindness, authenticity, and healing flourish.
Her grandmother reminded her of all of the adversity their family had faced and overcome.
“Fight the good fight. Keep the faith. Finish the race,” Meg whispered—words that became a mantra of hope and strength. Although Meg has passed beyond the realms of time and space, her spirit lives on through Stems Beauty. Her initials, M.E.G., now stand for My Eternal Guide. Whenever doubts crept in, our Founder would hear Meg’s words in her heart: “Fight the good fight. Keep the faith. Finish the race.”
And so, our Founder rose from betrayal and heartbreak to create Stems Beauty—not as just another beauty brand, but as a movement that celebrates inner beauty, resilience, and transformation. A movement dedicated to sharing the message that true beauty stems from within.
But the vision didn’t stop there. She knew that pain could transform into purpose, and healing could become a shared journey. Out of this understanding came Pages of Hope—a program inspired by the full-circle power of growth.
Through Pages of Hope, every Journal Journey you purchase provides one to a woman or child in need. We’ve partnered with Alexandria House, a nonprofit dedicated to rebuilding the lives of survivors of domestic violence and trafficking by offering transitional housing and long-term stability.Every October, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we go a step further, donating profits to support this vital mission.
This program is more than charity—it’s a reflection of the belief that when we heal ourselves, we create space for others to heal, too. Growth is full-circle at Stems Beauty. Together, we rise, connect, and inspire one another to
keep fighting the good fight, to keep the faith, and to finish the race.
Meg’s words live on in all of us: This is your sign. Whatever you dream of achieving, whatever purpose you feel called to fulfill—it is within your reach. Keep fighting. Keep the faith. Finish your race. And in doing so, know that you are creating a ripple effect of hope and transformation—one that will lift others up, just as Meg once lifted her granddaughter.
